Yeah Mrs. Partridge!

I got the latest copy of Vanity Fair yesterday, and was perusing it whilst waiting for Son's school bus, and ooooooooh were there some readers unhappy with October's cover! You know, the one with Paris Hilton? Well! One of the readers to respond just happens to be Shirley Jones, a.k.a. Mrs. Partridge, and here's what she had to say:

"I have admired and enjoyed your magazine since the beginning, but having a porn star on your cover was very disturbing to me. I had hoped your wonderful magazine was above this. Her story inside wasn't even interesting to read, and I savor all your special articles and subjects you choose to expose or talk about. I do hope we have not come to this."
I'm no Paris Hilton fan, no secret there, so I didn't even get that issue, but still. And after reading some of the other comments readers made, good for them too! Paris Hilton is a skank. This month, however, we have Kate Moss on the cover, and couple boobie shots inside for anyone interested. Deep thoughts? I doubt it, but I haven't had the chance to read any of the articles yet.

So, you ask, "Vic, why the hell do you subscribe to such a liberal publication?" Well, don't fret, I also got my copy of National Review yesterday to provide balance. Hey, I can't shut myself off from the world, it's good to know what the other side is doing. And this month! Here's what VF has inside:

"Dan Rather and 'Memogate'" --okay, defend that wanker Rather some more!

"Apocalypse Soon!: Evangelical Christians, The Rapture, and The Big Business of Being Born Again" --apparently I'm a kooky Christian

"The Assault on Public Broadcasting" -- because God Forbid we should have anything conservative on television

"The Re-Invention of Arianna Huffington" -- oooooh, riveting....not...

Yeah, well, while I get sick of the Bush bashing and all, it keeps me on my toes.
