Have yourself a GroovyVic Christmas

The tree is up. Husband's desire to not only have a real tree but a live tree has provoked a few four-letter oaths from me, but I really should have known better than to do all that mopping yesterday when I knew damn well he'd be dragging that behemoth in today.

An hour out of church and I'm yelling "mother f**ker!" at my husband. Not too good.

But, there it is. I hate having half my life still packed in boxes, as I can't find half my ornaments...grrrrr...

And as for those Christmas cookies I have to make, I'm confessing here and now that I bought those pre-cut Pillsbury sugar cookies. It will save me hauling out those damn cookie cutters and rolling pin.

On the upside, Husband went up to Erie yesterday and got the wine I requested. He actually got three bottles, so now that I've got the presents wrapped I can watch Meet Me in St. Louis the whole way through on Christmas Eve. What better way to watch Judy Garland??? *nudge nudge, wink wink*

I can't find half my Christmas stuff either. I swear someone stole it out of my garage.

I'm just waiting for the day the Branch and Blossom are old enough to start begging for a live tree. I will have to do all the work. Since the Citizen is Chinese and all...

Luckily, my husband hauls the tree, will often vacuum up the needles that fall in the process, but also does the lights. (inside and out) Okay, yes, I'm bragging!

As for cookies. I haven't baked cookies for Christmas in a couple of years. There are just too many other things going on. I think I may make some of my mom's fudge this year, though.

So, what kind of wine, Groovy? I enjoy a good sauvingon blanc or Reisling. (and some of the lighter reds) We like my BIL's homemade mead, too. It's a great sipping beverage on a cold night!

For Christmas, I like a spice wine. I haven't been able to get to any of the wineries around here to see if they make it, so as long as Husband was going up to Erie...there's one winery in particular, Penn Shore, that makes the best spice wine, and a Lambruscano that I love.

I tend towards sweeter wines myself...and I'm a sucker for the screw top Riunite. (At least it's not Boone's)

Groovy,

We got the nestle toll house choc.chip cut outs. What a rip-off. Most of the dough was actually left over from the cut-outs. I suppose that was what you're supposed to roll up into balls to make regular cookies. They really fooled us with that creative advertising. The girlies loved them though and thought they were the best things. :)

Those cookies are a ripoff, as I just found out. For crying out loud, with all that leftover dough I made even more damn cookies. I thought the whole point was so that we wouldn't have to roll and all that. Oh well, the cookies are cooling, Son and I can decorate later.

We probably won't make cookies here. I asked the girls if they wanted to make some this week and they don't really want to. Not because they have other things to do, but because cookie baking the week of Christmas was always an activity they did with my Mom and now that she's died, they are too saddened by the thought of making cookies without her. I know that I could make them myself, but even for me, the cookie recipes are from Mom... Maybe I will make her fudge recipe...
