Oh, I loved the John Jakes books! My grandmother and I read all of them. I think I learned more about history reading them then I ever did in school.
I also loved "North and South" when it was on TV. Patrick Swayze was SO hot! I regret not buying an incomplete VHS set from a video store that was going out of business years ago. It was missing the first tape but had all the rest.

Let me guess, you want to go to Scotland and see what was described in Diana Gabaldon's books?! Not to mention the way she was able to capture the Scottish brogue! You have to hear that in person:)

I'd be lying if I said Gabaldon's books didn't influence my travel choice. Yeah...I want to see the Highlands, find James Alexander Malcolm MacKenzie Fraser...who wouldn't???
And don't forget, Ewan McGregor is from Scotland! Woo woo!
