Tales of the Tooth

"Guess what, Mom?"

"What?"

"I have a wiggly tooth!"

So went the conversation Son and I had first thing this morning. Yes, he has his first loose tooth; he's 6, so he's on target.

I know this is one of those things everyone goes through, but this is another one of those "slaps in the face" that reminds me that my kids are growing up. I was thinking about this while I was on my way home from the grocery store, and all of a sudden I got kind of pissed! I though, crap! I dealt with all that teething, drooling, fevers, crying, pain...and for what? Six years later the damn teeth fall out!

Think about it!

I'm dealing with the braces issue with my #2! It goes too fast, that's for sure!

Congratulations to your son! Will he get anything from the tooth fairy?!

Yeah, the tooth fairy will be showing up. I'm just afraid I'll wake Son up...

I think I'm realizing Son is crossing another line into growing up, and I don't like it all that much.

The Lad is just THIS far from walking. *sigh* I know how you feel.

Did he lose it yet?

I remember when I had my first loose tooth. I was still in pre-school, and I hid it from my parents because they had lectured me that my teeth wouldn't start to fall out until I was in kindergarten at least.

I can imagine the mixed emotions you're feeling.

He hasn't lost it yet, but he keeps wiggling it. I think he's scared, but then he thinks about the tooth fairy and he wiggles some more.
