Kept my mouth shut

Write this one down: GroovyVic actually kept her mouth shut and didn't rise to provocation. From her pastor.

We were at our home Bible group the other night, and I'd brought up the subject of oxymorons. The pastor and his wife are in this group too, and he started telling a story of how he won a burrito for thinking up the best oxymoron. (He prefaced this story by saying this was in a very Liberal town in Kansas.)

So, he looks right at me and says "Reagan memoirs!"

I said "That's so wrong!" but I also put my head down and refused to say another word to him. That was a really dumb comment on his part...did I insult his mother?

I could be getting my dander up for no reason, but I suspect Mr. PastorMan may lean to the Left a bit...but I can't be sure.

Unkind! What was he thinking?!

Thanks for that, David. I passed that one along to the pastor this morning.

Good for you! "Hillary's Honesty" or "Truthfulness" is another one that came to mind.

So, are ya going to be seeing Def when they get to town? I need to ck their site and see if they're scheduled to play in Minneapolis or St. Paul.

I'd like to see Def Leppard, if they come anywhere near where I am. We'll see...

Hey! July 18! Minneapolis!!! Go you!!!

Posted by: GroovyVic at April 2, 2006 06:03 PM

Yeah -- I saw that. The sad part is it's at Target Center which, I am convinced, has the WORST.Acoustics.Ever. And that's no exaggeration. So, not this time around, anyway.

Ugh. What a cruel, tasteless joke. And that's from a "Man of God"?

My grandmother died Sunday of Alzheimer's, and your pastor can kiss my ass. It's a cruel diease, cruel not just to the victim, but to those who love the victim. I've missed my grandmother for some time now, because I don't know when she stopped remembering who we all were. Imagine the frustration, the fear, the sadness the victim must feel as they sense their minds slipping away from their grasp.

Someone who could so callously mock the suffering of another doesn't deserve to stand in a puplit.

Brian, I read about your grandmother yesterday, and you have my sincere sympathies. I have no idea what it would be like to watch someone you love forget you. More to the point, what your poor grandmother went through. I can't imagine how painful this has been for you and your family. Know that I'm thinking of you!!

The fact that a "man of God" would make such a comment, even in jest, made me mad. I mean, whether you liked Reagan or not, the man suffered from what I think is a terrible way to go. A comment like that is in bad taste, no matter what side of the aisle you're on.

I've had issues with this pastor for some time, and now I don't know if I even want to have any dealings with him at all.

Too late now, but the proper response was, "I have an even better one: 'Dignity of the clergy'."
