Let's go back about 15 years

I was rummaging through some of the boxes in the basement today, looking for something, when I came across some notes and such from my college days. I thought I'd gotten rid of most of it, but there was an algebra book and my class notes and stuff. Oddly enough, I didn't doodle all that much, but I did love "John" a lot. And at one point I tried to list the eight parts of speech, but came up one short, whereupon I wrote DAMN in big letters.

I also came across a fat folder of grad school stuff. I had aspirations of becoming a counselor...you can see that didn't go too far. No extra stuff there; my brain was probably trying to get around the psychotherapy antecedents or whatever blah blah.

The really fun thing was finding a college yearbook from 1991. That was my junior year...and the year I turned 21. The really funny thing is that, when I looked at the Current Events section, I remembered Rosanne's butchery of the National Anthem but had dim memories of the Gulf War. And Husband took part in that. He's off serving his country and I'm half-tanked, scrounging for another Marlboro.

I drank heavily back then.

Which explains why I giggled to myself and kept saying "I drank with him! Oh, I had a crush on him! Oh, I drank there!"

But the hair! The rolled up pants! I loved that, by the way. I had that big hair and my pants were always rolled up "just so" with the slouchy socks. Don't forget the requisite leather jacket with the cuffs over our hands, and our classy Espirit bags.

It may look tacky now, but at least back then I was thin. I looked at some senior pictures and wondered if the one girl I saw whose major was secondary education/English (same as mine) was a bored, frustrated, blogging housewife too.

A hell of a way to spend a Saturday.

Ah, the ol' trip down memory lane! You just have to do that every once in a while. You made me feel old, by the way...husband and I were married in '86 and here you were a mere 21 in '91!

So, will you be posting those pictures on the blog for all of us to see? I kinda think you should.

That's why I can never get anything cleaned out and organized. Too many trips down memory lane!

The rolled pants technique was very useful when I first started martial arts. The uniform pants were too long and I hate sewing and was too cheap to pay for alterations. I often rolled them so well I could barely get them off when I got home! When I got to black belt I finally broke down and paid for alterations because the jackets had to be altered also.

David, if I can find anything suitable to post I'll do it. I destroyed most of the, er...incriminating pics a long time ago. My senior picture is about the only thing I have handy right now.
