Nicknames and Something I Don't Understand

Do you have nicknames for your kids? Do you use them in public?

The other day Daughter and I were at the checkout counter at the drugstore and I called her "sweet pea." The cashier got a funny look on her face and asked Daughter: "Does Mommy really call you 'sweet pee?'"

Hello, no. It is not "pee." It's "pea." As in the sweet pea plant.

My mom used to call me that when I was younger, so it just carried over to my kids.

Seriously, do people really think I'd call my daughter urine?

I don't understand this whole MySpace thing. I really don't. I mean, I have a page and some friends, but I hardly ever go over there. I don't see what all the hype is. Maybe I'm too old, I don't know, but I have more fun with this here blog.

At any rate, you can certainly go visit my MySpace page, boring though it may be.

Haaahaa! I call my daughter all sorts of things, depending on her behavior. Usually, she's a "punkin seed," but if she's ornery, I call her "stinkbottom." It has nothing to do with odor, because she's a "little lady" as well.

I suppose if I were to call Daughter what I usually call her --"poopypants"-- I'd probably get reported to Childrens' Services.

How come your "Who I'd Like To Meet" category is blank? Shouldn't you at least add Ewen McGregor (I probably didn't spell that right) ?

Well, I did have that there, but then we became "friends" and I thought that might look tacky. And I couldn't really say "I want to see Ewan McGregor naked and in person" now could I?

Case made, counselor (LOL)!

Branch and Blossom have a couple of nicknames, some of which are in Spanish. So most gringos around here don't get it. That's fine with me.
