I Forgot To Tell You!

Somehow, at Thanksgiving dinner, a comment was made and I spat out "There's your nanny state at work! Damn the Liberals!"

I glanced over at a niece (that I've only met once, and that was on my wedding day, thank you. I was a little preoccupied) and said "I hope you're not a Democrat."

Yes, she is.

"A Liberal Democrat?"

Yes.

(Crap)

Favorite BIL then explained that most of us at the table were of a conservative mind, but that Vic here is pretty far right.

I then looked at niece and said "I'm also one of those crazy Christian conservatives. Amen!"

It was at this point that I was shushed and Husband gave me a nudge. I was told not to talk politics at that point.

Dammit!!!

This niece also said she'd vote for Hillary Rodham Rodham if she ran for President. Thank goodness for Favorite BIL, who sat down and said "The Clintons are liars!"

I piped up with "Yeah!"

Between you and me, I wasn't prepared to talk politics anyway, but still, I hate to be shushed!

But I would have loved to have heard her take on the military, seeing as how her father is retired military, and one of her uncles is in...and soon to get a promotion, thankewverramuch.

Grrrr....

I hate being shushed, too! Though the talk around our table would have been conservative for the most part. MIL gets her news from the three major networks, but it's fairly easy to dispute their reporting.

As for your niece's view on the military, it would probably be "I support the troops...bring them home."
