I Feel Like Chicken
In two weeks, my surgery will be history. And I'm starting to wonder just what the hell I've gotten myself into.
Oh sure, if I can live without this reflux and eat like a normal person again, that will be great, but this is surgery, after all.
Husband will be taking a couple days off to help me out, because we really don't know what kind of shape I'll be in.
Thank God someone cares.
But...anyhoo...I'm still starting to chicken out of this.

The worst part is the waiting until your surgery. Ask your surgeon what to expect, they know. Will you require a hospital over night stay? If not, your pain shouldn't be too bad or atleast nothing that your drugs can't help with. Just remember to ask your anesthesiologist for the "right" dugs so that you don't get sick in recovery. Good luck.
Posted by: LeeAnn at May 2, 2007 04:37 PMThat's what really scares me, the getting sick thing. I got terribly sick many years ago when I had my wisdom teeth out, so I'm paranoid now.
The doc told me I'd only be in for 23 hours, so it shouldn't be too bad. All I can think about, though, is that all liquid diet for two weeks, and then really soft foods for like a month after. I'll go crazy, I know I will.
Posted by: GroovyVic at May 2, 2007 05:32 PMSee if you can find out who your anesthesiologist will be before your surgery and speak with them. I had an operation, not too long ago and mine was very much aware of women and their reactions so that I was told that I would be getting lots of drugs to combat the nausea and it worked. Yuck on the liquid diet but think of all those pounds you should lose!
Posted by: LeeAnn at May 3, 2007 10:31 AMGood luck with the surgery. I have more eye surgery ahead, so I understand the dread! You'll do fine!
Posted by: linda at May 3, 2007 11:11 AMGod Bless you and keep you safe.
I have been through one major surgery and I am looking at losing my remaining kidney in the next couple of months. I know it sounds trite but the "Turn it over to the Lord thing helps me a lot."
Your attitude makes a world of difference and the other thing is being real nice to all the people who you encounter during your procedure. Kind of like in a resturant, I want people who bring me food to like me and I want people who work on my innards to have a real good feeling about me.
You will do fine and coming out on the other side you will be so thanful you are able to have this kind of help.
God's Peace and Blessings upon You and Your Family.
Posted by: OldTexan at May 3, 2007 07:39 PMOh, I thought I read previously that the surgery was cancelled, you didn't need it. Hope all goes well, I'll be thinking about you. BTW, is ice cream on that soft foods diet?!
